Lynn
Martin, former U.S. Secretary of Labor, will serve as Honorary
Chair of the 2004 International ATHENA Conference, "Vision
and Action: Cultivating the Leader Within", to be held
April 29 to May 1, 2004 in Chicago, IL.
Martin
was honored as the 2002 International ATHENA Award Recipient
in Dallas, Texas. Martin currently chairs Deloitte &
Touche's Council on the Advancement of Women, a glass ceiling
initiative which oversees corporate efforts to provide full
opportunity to talented men and women, and is advisor to
the firm.
During
her tenure as U.S. Secretary of Labor, Martin focused the
Department on ensuring the security of working Americans,
and emphasized the need to support a highly skilled, highly-paid
workforce. Prior to serving in the cabinet, Martin represented
the 16th District of Illinois in the House of Representatives
from 1981 to 1991 where she was a member of the House Rules
Committee, and the Committee on Public Works and Transportation.
